9 weeks

9 weeks
It is official, Elizabeth is two months old!  She got her two month shots and was weighted.  She is 10 lbs 1 ounce!  Almost double her birth weight!  Everything else about her checked out good too.  She got her first three shots, and while she didn’t like them, she did great.  It was unpleasant for me too, but after watching her get blood drawn 5 times when she was only 5 lbs, it was actually pretty easy.

Grandpa & Elizabeth hanging out

I went back to work on Monday and Elizabeth got to stay home with Grandpa & Grandma Triebenbach.  It made it easier for me to go to work, but it was still very hard.  I was so happy to get home after what felt like two of the longest days of my life.  Elizabeth loves her Grandparents and has big smiles for them.  And she can’t wait to spend more time with her other Grandparents and show them how cute she is too!  My parents are great!  They did so many things around the house and outside while taking care of Elizabeth.  I’m so glad they were able to spend this time with Elizabeth and so grateful for all they have done.
Playing on the floor
Yes, Elizabeth is smiling.  It is the most beautiful thing Marc and I have seen.  I haven’t been able to catch a picture of it yet, but I keep trying.  She is making more noises too.  Sometimes she gets loud and startles herself.  If you had told me I would be enchanted by just a smile and some noises, I would have laughed at you.  Now it is all I want to see and hear.

Asleep in my crib

I think we have won the battle of getting Elizabeth to sleep in her crib.  We’re grateful to Shelly (SIL) for finding a positioner Elizabeth likes.  Hopefully I haven’t jinxed myself by writing this!

8 Weeks

This expression makes us giggle
We survived our week without Marc and he survived a week away from us.  I sent him a couple pics to tide him over.  I know Elizabeth missed him.  She had a bad night, so I had a bad night.  She was up every two hours and fussy during the day, but we survived and now she is back to sleeping better.  I don’t know if it was Marc being out of town, but I like to blame him.

Otherwise it was a quiet week for us.  Elizabeth and I stayed home much of the time.  We did go for a walk a couple nights.  Marty really enjoyed going with us and he only tangled up with us once.
Friday we went to JC Penny to get Elizabeth’s 8 week pictures.  They did a great job.  I don’t have the CD to post pictures yet.  One pose she is wearing the baptism gown I wore and that she will be wearing for her baptism.  The second outfit was just bloomers and a bow on her head and she was lying on the blanket my Grandma Triebenbach made for me when I was born.  The last outfit was a blue dress I picked up that day.  Marc likes how she looks in blue as it picks up her still blue eyes.  Of course we bought all the poses because Elizabeth is so cute!
Speaking of Elizabeth’s baptism, it is September 11 at the 10:30 am service at Nativity of Mary in Bloomington.  Right now it sounds like most or all of our siblings and Elizabeth’s cousins will be there.  Our choir is also singing at the service and they are like extended family.  We’re really looking forward to the joyful event!

Cousins Claire, Maya & Ryan.  Cousin Ella was taking a nap.

Saturday we went to Grandpa & Audrey’s.  Grandpa’s side of the family had a reunion so Elizabeth got to meet more of the extending family and four more cousins.  She is such a great little traveler.

Next week I go back to work.  Yuck!  And, finally Elizabeth’s two month check-up and we’ll find out how much she weights!

7 Weeks

REALLY?
Elizabeth had another busy week.  Monday night we had friends come over to meet her and bring supper.  It was fun and I think Elizabeth charmed them.  Tuesday night was National Night Out.  One of our neighbors hosts a potluck dinner in her back yard.  We took Elizabeth and had a fun time meeting neighbors.  There has been a lot of change over in the neighborhood, older owners to younger ones so there were new people to meet.  We were hoping to meet some of the other young couples in the neighborhood with young kids (four of them one and under).  We did meet one of the couples, but I’m sure the rest were busy.  Having a kid will do that to you.

Wednesday night Elizabeth got to see her first Musical Theater show.  The church based theater group, Heaven Help Us Players, that I’ve worked with in the past had their final dress rehearsal and allowed us to see the show and bring Elizabeth.  Of course, they were all excited to meet her.  This is the group I did Godspell with last summer and Nunsense II this winter so they had been with me through a large portion of my pregnancy.  The show, You’re a Good Man Charlie Brown, was great and Elizabeth liked all of the lights, even if she was fussy.

Last wearing for that outfit!

Thursday we just stayed home for the evening and Friday too.  Saturday Elizabeth went to the chiropractor for the first time.  Don’t worry, there was no cracking or adjustments.  The chiropractor, who Marc has been seeing for 10 years, checked out her pelvis, hips and shoulders.  Elizabeth has been having some trouble with gas and poop and the chiropractor wanted to check her alignment.  Her pelvis was off on one side so he did some muscle work to get it right.  It did make some improvement so I would suggest it for kids, if you have a chiropractor who you trust and works with infants.
This afternoon Marc’s Mom and Great Aunt Audrey came up for a visit and to babysit so Marc and I could go on a date.  We saw the last Harry Potter movie, which was really good.  I want to go back and read the book again, but I doubt that will happen any time soon.
This week Marc is out of town for work and the following week I go back to work part-time.  I plan to enjoy my last week at home with Elizabeth.  I can’t believe eight weeks have gone so fast.

6 weeks

At Church

Last week was a tough week.  Elizabeth didn’t want to sleep so Marc and I didn’t sleep.  Elizabeth doesn’t like thunderstorms or changes in weather, like the dog, Marty.  Marty is very afraid of thunder and managed to break out of his kennel twice and ruined it.  Thankfully Elizabeth should grow out of the fear.
Bath Time

Marc has become both Elizabeth’s and my hero.  Elizabeth only sleeps in her swing and the swing has to be moving.  The batteries ran out at 4 am on night and we were one battery short so Marc went out and got batteries at 4 am.  Thankfully then we all got some sleep.  My husband is really the greatest and an amazing Dad. This update is a day late.  We had a busy weekend.  We made our first trip to Osakis to attend a family reunion and spend some time with my side of the family.  It was Elizabeth’s first trip out of
Great Aunt Fran
town overnight.  She did great.  She was pretty fussy on Sunday night since her schedule was off so Marc and I took turns Sunday night holding her so I didn’t get to updating the blog.  Elizabeth slept the two hour drive to Osakis and most of the way back.  Elizabeth’s cousins were excited to see her and helped feed and hold her while she was there.  Of Grandma and Grandpa, her aunts and uncles were happy to see her too.  My older brother met her for the first time and he thought she was pretty great too.  At the family reunion Elizabeth slept and didn’t fuss when her Great Aunts and Uncles told her how cute she is and held her.

Elizabeth’s 6 week appointment is this week instead of last week so I can’t update you on her weight.  I’m guessing around 7 lbs.  Marc says over 8 lbs and Aunt Alison thinks she might be over 9 lbs.  We’ll see who is right.  I can’t believe our little girl could be over 8 or 9 lbs.

Lots coming up this week and it should be fun!
