The other night Marc called to say he would be late getting home from work. Really late, well after Elizabeth and I were asleep. This was about the third time that week and Elizabeth and I had been eating leftover lasagna all week. I decided we would go out to eat and run a few errands after. (You know running errands before hand would not have been a good thing the way our little Peanut likes to eat.)
So, Elizabeth and I went to our favorite Oriental place, 1st Wok. It is a great, casual family place that I think everyone who has ever visited us has been to with us. Elizabeth and I were just wild and crazy. We didn't even have the diaper bag with so no sippy cup, sliverware, toys or even a bib for her. So, not only was it girl's night out, Elizabeth got to wear a napkin around her neck and use the spoon to get water out of her cup. (The most exciting part) Elizabeth and I split my meal and she got a side of steamed broccoli (her favorite). She got to try a few new things, baby corn (very good), water chestnuts (not impressed) and shrimp (undecided). She did like the sauce from my dish and started dipping everything in it. As long as she eats I am happy. The owner was really nice and gave Elizabeth 4 extra fortune cookies, which she gobbled down.
Of course I had my camera!

Mommy's Great Idea
One Saturday I was trying to get some stuff done in the kitchen, but my little helper wasn't helping. So, I remembered something my mom said they used to do when she taught preschool and something I had read on Pinterest. (It is the female equivalent to a guy saying "Hold my beer" or a child saying "Watch this.") Spray shaving cream on a table top and let the kid play. I knew Elizabeth wouldn't put it in her mouth so I decided why not. Well, let me tell you why not...
First the table has to be very clean. Elizabeth found some flour and sugar that had spilled on the table and mixed it with the shaving cream making a nice paste. And, while Elizabeth knows not to put it in her mouth, she still puts it in her hair and on her clothes and on the chair cushion and the straps and everywhere those little fingers could reach. So, I got done what I needed to, but I had to wash the high chair cushion and the chair, change Elizabeth's clothes and give Elizabeth a bath. So much for my great idea.
Ummm... Hi Mommy. |

Look what these fools have given me! |
Orange is my color |

Artist at work |
It might be a while before we get a Rembrandt, but she sure has fun. And, Marc and I can talk to each other and make dinner. Marty is just disappointed that she is at the table and not dropping food.

Black Friday
The Friday after Thanksgiving we did not go shopping, but to Kurt & Erica's for an amazing Thanksgiving meal with their families. Autumn, who turned 6 (Oye!) celebrates her birthday after lunch so it is a fun family gathering. This year Elizabeth got to meet a new cousin, Finn who was born in February. She kept calling him baby but he is almost as big as she is!
Same height, 1 lb difference, same hair, 9 months different is age. |
