October 8, 2012

Elizabeth is growing by leaps and bounds!  Last week Marc took her in for her 15 month checkup.  He doesn’t remember the exact numbers but she is around 28 ½ inches tall and about 28 pounds.  She has moved up a size in diapers so she is now in size 4.  The bigger diapers makes all of her 12 month pants not fit so we got out her 18 month clothes.  Apparently, I love to buy Elizabeth dresses because we are coming up short on pants.  I figure I can make her some leggings and she can wear the dresses.  If she is anything like I was, she will ripe tights every time she wears them.  I don’t know how my mom kept buying me tights.

Elizabeth isn’t walking alone yet.  She’ll walk between Marc and I and dives for a hug when she gets close.  It isn’t a habit I’m in a hurry to break because baby hugs are so darn sweet.  We’re pretty sure she could walk solo if she wanted to, but it doesn’t appear she does.

Elizabeth’s vocabulary is growing every day.  This morning she told me the cow says moo!  Until this morning she would only say baa for sheep.  She can also make the noise for an elephant although she can’t say elephant.  She says doggie, kitty, baa, moo, mommy and daddy, uh oh, owl and other things.  She has also started using sign language too.  She will sign "eat", "more" and "all done" when she wants to!

Scrapes and Sickness

That was the title of our weekend.  Friday night Elizabeth threw up once and again on Saturday morning.  We thought it was a teething thing.  She wasn’t really running a fever and wasn’t acting sick so we didn’t worry about it.

The injury is just on her forehead.  The cheek is sauce.
Sunday afternoon we were outside.  I was cleaning the flower beds by the house and Marc and Elizabeth were playing with one of her ride on toys.  She loves those and can really get going on the driveway.  Well, she got going a little too well.  The wheels got stuck and Elizabeth went over the steering wheel on to her forehead.  She got a small scrape right in the middle of her forehead.  Of course she screamed bloody murder and poor Marc felt so bad, but really there was no harm done.  She did wind up with her first scab, but considering she is over 13 months old I don’t think we did too bad.
Little Miss Attitude
Everything was fine until about 3:00 am on Monday morning.  Marc and I both woke up feeling not very good and it only got worse.  Turns out Elizabeth did have the stomach flu and she shared it with both of us.  Of course with Marc and I making frequent trips to the bathroom, Elizabeth woke up and was ready for the day.  I got up with her, put in her favorite movie “Curious George” and lay on the floor wishing for death and making sure Elizabeth didn’t hurt herself.  I should say, she doesn’t really watch the movie, but it catches her attention with the music and she laughs at George.  Thankfully Elizabeth was 100% fine so she could go to daycare.  Getting her there took a lot of effort, but I did it and came home and went straight back to bed.  Turns out all of the kids in her room and the teachers had the same thing over the weekend because of one little guy who came in sick.
Besides the germs, Marc and I are so grateful for Elizabeth.  She makes us laugh and smile every day and we are very blessed to have her.

Weekend in Osakis

Last weekend we went to Osakis for the Tri-annual Triebenbach Reunion.  Of course it was the first one Elizabeth attended.  She was the youngest there and even though it was at her nap time and there were lots of people there, she did great.  She loved walking around the community center.  She must have done a hundred laps!
Grandma & Grandpa T also got to spend time with Elizabeth.  Elizabeth is so close to walking and G&G T were helping her.  We also go to see Stan & Alison, Scott, Shelly, Kadyn & Chase so it was a good time.  My mom is so great about hosting meals and being flexible when we come up so we can see everyone as much as possible.  And, the rest is really great about setting aside time for us when we are there.  We always have a nice time and GOOD food!  Elizabeth impressed G&G T with how much she eats.  We're waiting for a growth spurt any day now!

Year One photos

I can't beleive I forgot to post these! I took Elizabeth for her one year photos on June 23. She was great until she saw the camera and then her smile ran away. We did get two of her smiling but it was tough going. The orange dress I made for her. The bath towel and duckies are from Grandma & Grandpa T and the piano was an idea I had. Yes, I also had the feather boa and pearls. Elizabeth is such a little diva! She loved sitting at that piano. And, not to brag, but the photographer had me sign a form so she could use Elizabeth's pictures for publicity. My little girl is a model!

Almost August

We've been having a great summer!  Here is a quick recap of the last month.

Elizabeth as 19 lbs 8 ozs and 25 inches at her one year check up on July 3.  She handled her shots well but was really glad to get out of the doctors office!  Only July 4, Grandma & Grandpa Wilson and Great Grandpa Finley can up to visit.  Great Grandpa brought her a doll in a swing.  Elizabeth enjoys watching it swing.
The week of July 14-22 we went on vacation with Kurt, Erica & Autumn.  We went to Erica's family cabin in Michigan.  It was a 13 hour drive.  We broke it up into a two day trip both there and back, but it was a long haul.  Elizabeth was a great traveler.  The last day on the way back she cried every time we put her in her car seat, but at that point Marc and I were doing the same thing!  On the way out we stopped at the North most point in MI.  The water in Lake MI is so wonderful and clear.  That was on Sunday into our trip.  Elizabeth and Autumn had a great time in the water and on the sandbar.  Both girls need a complete change when we got back to the car.  It is a good thing she enjoyed the water then, because once we got to the cabin and down to the beach, Elizabeth wanted nothing to do with the water or sand.  Someone had given us a blow up floatie for Elizabeth and even though Marc made himself dizzy blowing it up, Elizabeth would not sit in it!  We still went down to the water almost every day and tried to get Elizabeth in the water, but she and I spent a lot of time on the dock.  We filled her bucket with water and sand and she had a great time playing with it on the dock.  Silly little girl!  We did a little dune climbing and some shopping and lots of eating and had a great time.  It was also fun for the adults to stay up late (I think it was 10:30 one night!) and play games.  We used to do that quite often before the kids.  Now at least one of us is playing with the kids or feeding the kids or going home to get them in bed.  Plus Erica and I found a fabulous new drink!  It is Chocolate Cake Vokda and Coke!  It goes down very, very easily as we found out the first night we tried it!
Our garden survived our trip. I've made one batch of refridgeratoer pickles. Elizabeth LOVES cucumbers. We think it is helpful with her teething. She has eight teeth total now with two molars just cut through on the top. She cut them on vacation. We decided to get her an amber necklace because we were desperate for something to make teething easier for her and it works! Baltic amber is known to boost the immune system, reduce inflammation, accelerate healing, and reduce throat, ear and stomach infections and respiratory disease as well as simply maintain healthy living. I was skeptical too, but it did work, Thank God!
Marty got to go on a two week vacation to my parents' place. He just got back on Saturday. He had lost some weight, but clearly remembers where to find food after Elizabeth drops it. The chipmunk and squirels that had started living in our yard were not happy when Marty got back! Ha ha.

Next weekend is a family reunion in Osakis we are attending. It has been a while since we've been up to my parents' so it will be fun.

Playground

The weekend after Elizabeth's party SuAnne flew home to Portland.  Stan & Alison (and Daisy & Ginger) came down to visit.  Alison brought a really good rhubarb upside down cake and we had a fire in our fire pit and enjoyed s'mores.  Elizabeth didn't think much of the marshmallows, but she did like the crackers.  I had some of the peanutbutter frosting left from Elizabeth's cake so we added that to the s'mores.  I would highly recommend it.
My Awesome Auntie SuAnne

Auntie SuAnne will like this picture better.

Sunday morning we took the dogs for a walk and went to a local park with a playground.  Elizabeth got to swing for the first time, but she didn't think it was that great.  Apparently Ginger didn't think so either when Stan tried to swing with her.  Elizabeth did enjoy playing in the stones on the ground.  It was a nice walk and Elizabeth got a full bath following the walk.  But, not before SuAnne & Alison got pictures with her in her cute shirt.

And, just a garden update, we have been enjoying snow pod peas and lettuce from the garden and LOTS of raspberries. Elizabeth doesn't think much of any of them, but Marc & I are enyoying them.
Marc is out of town for a couple nights so Elizabeth and I are just concentrating on staying cool.
